Helsinki-Marathon Prep: Embracing Challenges and Looking Ahead

Updated: Aug 11, 2023

In my journey towards the Helsinki-Marathon, Days 2, 3, and 4 have been a rollercoaster of emotions and physical tests. Here's a glimpse of how things have been shaping up:

Day 2:

Feeling the aftermath of an intense gym session on Day 1, my muscles were crying out in protest. The pain made it hard to walk, let alone run. Despite a busy day in construction and business meetings, I tried my best to stay positive and spent quality time with my kids before calling it a day.

Day 3:

Friday arrived, but little changed. Work and late meetings consumed most of my day. Exhausted, I had hoped to go for a run, but the pain lingered, leaving me unable to hit the road. I eventually slept early, hoping for a better day ahead.

Day 4:

With determination in my heart, I woke up early on Day 4, knowing I had to train my body even in pain. My goal was to conquer 10 km, but the reality was harsh. I managed to run 5 km, but the pain in my right ankle, left knee, and an unexpected discomfort in the left side of my chest dampened my spirits. Despite the setbacks, I pushed myself and completed the 10 km, although most of it was a mix of running and walking.

The disappointment I feel is undeniable. I realize that I'm still far from the marathon level I hoped to be at this stage. But this journey isn't just about crossing the finish line; it's about embracing the process, even when faced with setbacks.

I won't let these challenges define me or my pursuit of the Helsinki-Marathon. Instead, I choose to view them as opportunities to learn, grow, and become a stronger runner. With each step forward, I'll remind myself that progress is not always linear, and every setback prepares me for a more triumphant comeback.

The road to the marathon won't be easy, but I'm ready to face it with resilience and perseverance. I'll rest when needed, listen to my body, and seek guidance from experienced runners. As I continue my training, I know there will be better days ahead, and I'll emerge from this phase stronger than ever.

So here's to embracing the challenges, learning from the setbacks, and keeping my eyes firmly fixed on the goal. The Helsinki-Marathon awaits, and I'm determined to cross that finish line with pride. Let's keep running, let's keep believing, and let's keep moving forward! 🏃‍♂️💪
